When someone purchases a copy of the book, I ask them to share someone they would like to donate a copy of the book in honor of or in memory of. Donated books will have a bookplate in the front that notes for whom the book is given in honor or in memory.
Why you are sharing your book–your story–with others is your “why story” or your platform. And, it needs to be front and center when you write, speak, blog, video, have a conversation with a friend, share a book out of the trunk of your car. How would you describe your “why story”?
What happens when you are the boss and you receive a cancer diagnosis? After understanding what my treatment plan would look like, I don’t know how I could have kept it a secret. If you work with staff in a leadership role, here is what I have learned.
My legacy gift is the story of my cancer journey and the faith that inspired me for the battle contained in the book, My Faith Sparkles: Memoir of a Cancer Survivor. For each book sold, one will be donated to a cancer center or support group to inspire a patient undergoing treatment.
